Patrick James McCourt is a footballer, currently playing for Barnsley as a winger. He was born in 1983 in Derry, Northern Ireland and played with the youth teams of Foyle Harps, then switched to Rochdale and in December 2001 he signed a professional contract with the senior team. During his first season with the team he netted 4 goals in 23 matches. In the 2003/04 season McCourt was used regularly but picked up several injuries and left the side in February 2005.
In March 2005 he joined Shamrock Rovers, then signed for Derry City, with whom he won the FAI Cup in 2006 and three League of Ireland Cup titles. In June 2008 McCourt completed a move to Celtic. Since his move Celtic won the Scottish Premier League in 2011/12 and 2012/13, in 2011 the team won the Scottish Cup.
After five years and 86 matches for the Bhoys McCourt signed a deal with an English side Barnsley in the summer 2013.
McCourt was a part of the Northern Ireland U-21 team and made 9 appearances at that level, before he was called up to represent the senior team in the match against Spain in April 2002.
