Pantelis Kafes is a Greek footballer born on 24 June 1978 in Veria, Greece.
He started his professional career in 1995 at Pontioi Verias from the Greek second division. After the team’s relegation to the fourth tier, Pantelis left the club for the giant PAOK in 1997. Kafes shortly established himself as the pillar of the team. He was an instrumental player for the club during the 2000/01 and 2002/03 Greek Cups as his side became the winner then.
In 2003, a skillful midfielder moved to the top-flight club Olympiacos. He cut a brilliant figure in the 2004/05 season when his side won the Greek Championship and the Greek Cup. Kafes enjoyed even better fortune during the 2005/06 campaign as he made 22 league appearances and led the club to another Double.
In 2006, the player joined AEK Athens. Kafes scored 18 goals and played 138 games during his six-year stint at the club. In 2011, he helped AEK to become the Greek Cup winner. In August 2012, he moved back to his hometown side Veria where plays till the date.
Pantelis Kafes is a regular international for Greece since 2001. He got a first taste of international action in a match against Croatia in April 2001 and cored his maiden goal against Austria in March 2003. The player’s biggest breakthrough on the international arena was Euro 2004 triumph.
