Paolo Cannavaro is a center back for Napoli. He was born on 26 June 1981 in Napoli, Italy.
Cannavaro trained hard during his last two years at S.S.C. Napoli youth academy to play for the club’s youth team and in the Italian youth championship.
In 1998 Napoli offered their student a permanent professional contract and the young defender gladly accepted it. Still in the 1998/99 season Cannavaro appeared in only 2 matches for the club.
In 1999 Napoli management didn’t prevent Paolo from transferring to Parma. Cannavaro signed a 5-year contract with the Crusaders. From 1999 to 2001 Paolo periodically appeared in the starting lineup but wasn’t a key player due to high competition from more experienced players.
In 2001 Parma sent Cannavaro on loan for him to stay in top shape. The 2001/02 season at Verona resulted in 24 matches and 1 goal.
After returning to Parma Paolo played mostly as a substitute until 2006. From 1999 to 2006 the center back scored 4 goals in 92 appearances for Parma.
2006 was a turning point in Paolo Cannavaro’s career as Serie A Napoli signed him on a long-term contract despite his rare appearances at the Ducali. Napoli senior coach saw Paolo’s passion and ardor and thought that such a high-level player would become a great asset to the team. He was right because since the debut season Cannavaro confidently embraced the role of center back.
In 2014 Cannavaro played for Sassuolo on loan.
Paolo Cannavaro is a Coppa Italia winner of 2011/12 season. From 2002 to 2004 Paolo was capped 18 times for Italy U-21.
