Paolo Castellini is a defender of Sampdoria football club. He was born on 25 March 1979 in Brescia, Italy.
Paolo started his football career in Cremonese and signed a professional contract with the club in 1996. In the summer 2000 he moved to Torino and immediately became an undisputed starter of the club. Italian player made his debut in the Serie A fixture against Udinese in August 2001. The match ended up in a 2-2 draw. Paolo spent two and a half years with Torino and then was loaned to Brescia for half a year. Step by step he grew into an experienced and credible defender.
In the summer 2004 the player penned a five-year contract with a Spanish side Real Betis. He was supposed to force the team’s veteran Luis Fernandez Gutierrez out of the starting eleven but the Italian failed to do it. Moreover, the player got seriously injured. As a result, Paolo managed to make only 13 appearances for Betis during two seasons.
In 2006 Castellini joined Parma and shortly became one of the core players of the team.
In 26 August 2010 Castellini was loaned to Roma with an option to buy. In 2011 the player was signed by Sampdoria.
