Pape Diakhaté is a Selegalese defender playing for Granada CF and the national team of Senegal.
Pape moved from Senegal to France in 2001 where he entered the football academy of Nancy and became the captain almost straight away. In the 2006/07 season he was regarded as one of the best defenders of the French Ligue 1. The season over, Pape moved to Dymano Kyiv.
Diakhaté managed to score his first goal for the new club on November 30, 2008 only in his 28th game for the Ukrainian team when Pape scored a skillful header after a corner.
During a friendly where Dynamo encountered Rubin Kazan in 2009 Pape received a harsh injury. In mid-February he underwent surgery on his knee in Belgium. Pape was advised by the doctors to keep out of play for a period of 5-6 months.
In 2009, he went on a year-long loan to a French club Saint-Étienne performing in the Ligue 1. Afterwards Diakhaté joined Lyon on a loan deal for a fee of €500 000. Upon his return to Ukraine the footballer scored once again in a Ukrainian Super Cup game.
In late August Diakhaté was officially transferred to Granada for an estimated fee of €4.500.000.
