Paul David McShane is a defender of Hull City. He was born on 6 January 1986 in Kilpedder, Ireland.
Paul’s professional career took off in Manchester United after the footballer penned a senior contract with the club in 2004. The same year, McShane was sent on loan to Walsall, where he made four appearances and netted one goal. In 2005, the defender sealed a temporary deal with Brighton and Hove Albion and fired four goals in 38 fixtures for the team during one season.
In 2006, Paul transferred to West Bromwich Albion and found the net two times in 32 matches for the club during one year. A lot of English teams took an interest in the footballer, but he opted for Sunderland in the summer 2007. McShane featured in 24 games for ‘The Black Cats’ and went on loan to Hull City, where he chipped in one goal in 17 fixtures during his spell. The management of ‘The Tigers’ offered the defender a permanent contract and saw him score one goal in 61 matches as of December 2012.
In 2011 and 2012, Paul performed on loan at Barnsley and Crystal Palace and took part in 21 games during two spells.
From 2005 till 2006, the footballer made nine appearances and contributed one goal for the Republic of Ireland national U-21 squad. From 2006, McShane has been capped 27 times for the full national team.
