Pedro León Sánchez Gil is a Spanish right midfielder under contract with Getafe.
His career path had its beginning at Real Murcia where Pedro played aged 17. Gabi Correa, former professional, famous footballer of his time, noticed the skills of the young footballer who had a brilliant control over the ball.
The first professional match that he played was a Segunda game against Lerida on January 15, 2005 when Pedro took the pitch on the 77th minute. The whole season 2004/05 granted him with 7 appearances.
The club fans certainly remember Pedro León’s outstanding goal that he scored to Ciudad de Murcia. Through the whole following season Pedro already was a solid starting eleven player and scored several goals thus helping the side win promotion to the top flight.
In 2007 modest Levante was quick enough to intercept the talented played from Chelsea and Real Madrid signing him for only £2.5 mln. However for the only season at the Valencian club he made 11 starts and trained alone for conflicts with teammates.
His next club was Real Valladolid that paid €300.000 for the footballer and he repaid with a good level of football, so in August of 2009 Pedro León was purchased by Getafe. The clubs after lengthy negotiations agreed upon a €4mln price tag. The player spent a wonderful season scoring nine goals and attracting attention of such European clubs as Tottenham Hotspur, AC Milan, Stoke City and Manchester City.
However, Real Madrid was the club that officially signed Pedro León on July 15, 2010. During his first year at the club he made 6 league appearances. The season was notable for his fight with Fernando Gago that kept the winger out of play for some time. After many loan propositions were turned down by Real Madrid Pedro León eventually managed to leave the ‘Blancos’ moving to his former side Getafe. However, the player wasn’t used by the manager as frequently as usual allowing Pedro to take the pitch only in 13 games of the season 2011/12. Still, he stayed with the club for another season on loan terms and in 2013 signed a permanent deal with the club.
As for the international career Pedro León was called up to the U-21 squad in 2009 and made 6 appearances scoring one goal.
