Peter Wisgerhof is a back of Twente. He was born on 19 November 1979 in Wageningen, Netherlands.
Peter’s youth career took off in local ONA ‘53. Wisgerhof understood that if he wanted to reach the top, he needed to perform for a top-flight club. The footballer passed a trial in the academy of Vitesse and was admitted. During many years Peter trained and played for the youth team of the club, so that to join the main squad one day.
In the summer 1999, his dream came true and he penned his first professional contract with Vitesse. During his first season with the first team, Wisgerhof made 15 appearances and managed to draw the attention of various Eredivisie clubs the following year.
In 2000 the footballer completed a move to NEC on a six-month loan deal. However, after Peter took part in several important games and made positive display, the management of the temporary team decided to secure the defender’s services on a long-term contract.
In the summer 2000, Wisgerhof sealed a five-year deal with NEC and clinched a place in the centre of defense from the very first season. During nine years the footballer performed for the club, he featured in 270 matches and amassed 16 goals.
In January 2009, Peter finalized a move to Twente and became a substitute for Robbie Wielaert, who transferred to Ajax. In the 2010/2011 season, the footballer was given the captain’s armband.
From 2010, Wisgerhof has been capped two times for the Netherlands national team.
