Petr Jiráček is a Czech footballer born on 2 March 1986 in Tuchořice, Czechoslovakia.
He started his football grooming in a hometown football club Sokol Tuchořice where he played until 1996. At the age of 10 Petr moved to FK Baník Sokolov, being loaned from it to Buldoci Karlovy Vary and then to SK Slavia Prague after two successful seasons. Soon Jiráček returned to FK Baník Sokolov to carve out a professional career for himself. For the 2006-2008 seasons he scored 2 goals in 40 games for the club. It caught interest of FC Viktoria Plzeň where he afterwards played exactly 100 games scoring 11 goals. Such a stable play of Petr Jiráček sparked interest of top European clubs in him which finally led him to a contract with Vfl Wolfsburg. The transfer fee was reportedly of €4 million. He got off to a flying Bundesliga start scoring a brace in a game against SC Freiburg which ended in a 3-2 win for Wolfsburg.
On 3 September 2011 Jiráček received his first international cap in a game against Scotland. His maiden goal wasn’t long in coming: Petr fired a ball in the opponents’ goal in the UEFA Euro 2012 qualifying play-off against Montenegro. Moreover, a Czech midfielder was a key player in UEFA Euro 2012 group stage matches helping his team to win over Greece and Poland.
