Pyotr Bystrov is a Russian midfielder. He was born on 15 July, 1979 in Gorky, Russia. Bystrov is a graduate of FC Lokomotiv Nizhny Novgorod youth academy.
On 3 May, 1997, at the age of 17, Bystrov debuted in the Russian Premier League. During the first season at Lokomotiv Pyotr made 18 appearances. Following the results of 1997/98 Lokomotiv had to leave the elite division. In 1999 Lokomotiv finished second in the Russian First Division and was again promoted to the Premier League. Bystrov’s debut in the UEFA Intertoto Cup against Serbian Proleter was marked with his outstanding long-range shot, which brought Lokomotiv victory. Valery Ovchinnikov, Lokomotiv former coach, noted that Bystrov is the future hope of Russian football.
After Lokomotiv Pyotr defended the colors of Dynamo Moscow, Saturn Ramenskoye and FC Moscow, totaling 197 appearances and 26 goals for 8 seasons.
In 2009 the midfielder moved to Rubin. Bystrov wanted to play in the Champions League, and Rubin gave him such an opportunity. In 2009 Pyotr Bystrov became the Champion of Russia.
On 13 June, 2009, shortly after the debut match against Rostov in the Premier League, Bystrov was hospitalized. In the extra time the midfielder fell to the lawn and couldn’t get up. The doctors provided Bystrov with first aid, after which he was taken to regional clinical diagnostic center. In the center Bystrov was diagnosed with cerebral edema, dehydration, heat stroke and hemorrhagic stroke. Pyotr was able to recover by October 2009.
Having featured in 50 matches for the club Bystrov retired in 2012.
Pyotr won 6 caps and scored 5 goals for Russia U-21. For senior national team of Russia Bystrov was allowed to start mere 2 matches.
