Qiu Shengjiong is a Chinese goalkeeper who currently represents Shanghai Shenhua. The towering shot stopper is nicknamed Big Ox.
He started his football journey in the youth set-up at Shanghai Shenhua in 2003. Many critics didn’t consider him a reliable goalie due to his size. But during the 10th All China Games Qiu Shengjiong was one of the best players on the pitch helping his team progress to the final.
He continued in excellent form and signed his first full-time contract with Shanghai Shenhua in 2005. But the goalie failed to force his way into the main team. His debut came only on August 12, 2007. Later on he made a couple of decent appearances and started to provide competition for the team’s first-choice keeper. Now Qiu Shengjiong is a quality back-up for Wang Dalei.
In 2008 the goalkeeper was included into the Chinese Olympic team.
