Rafael López Gómez is a Spanish footballer playing for Getafe CF on a position of a defender in La Liga.
This footballer is more familiar to the fans of the club as simply Rafa. His professional career had its beginning in a youth team of Real Valladolid.
Rafa made quick steps on his career ladder very soon growing up as a professional. His career in the main squad of Valladolid began in 2004 but after one season with 17 appearances he was loaned by a second-division Eibar. There he took the pitch in 19 games which wasn’t an outstanding characteristic so he was returned to Real Valladolid by the end of his loan spell.
The season 2006/07 was spent in balance between the bench and the pitch being used in a number of matches. However the defender helped his side to win a long-expected promotion. In La Liga Rafa played in 21 games throughout the whole campaign of 2007/08 but was eventually sold.
The buyer was Getafe CF which quickly found where to use the abilities of the player. The left flank became a constant place for Rafa to play on. During the following campaign (2009/10) he claimed after himself a solid starting eleven place thus appearing in 27 games of the season and scoring two goals as the Madrid side qualified for their second in history Europa League.
