Rafael Romo is a goalkeeper for Udinese. He was born on 25 February 1990 in Turén, Venezuela.
Rafael’s youth career started at local Atlético de Turén youth academy. For several years Romo studied at the academy and played for the club’s youth team.
In 2007 Romo signed his first professional contract with Venezuelan Llaneros FC. Rafael’s debut 2007/08 season was a success as right after it the young goalkeeper was admitted to Venezuela U-20 and the national team. During 2 seasons at Llaneros Rafael wasn’t used as first-choice goalkeeper but still made 27 appearances.
Romo’s reliable play attracted attention of Italian Serie A Udinese and in 2009 the Venezuelan goalkeeper eagerly joined Bianconeri first team. During 2 seasons at the Italian club Rafael made mere 1 appearance and was later loaned to Estudiantes de Mérida for the 2011/12 season to garner experience and hone his skills. Since 2012 to 2014 Romo played for Mineros de Guayana.
In 2008 Rafael Romo was capped 4 times for Venezuela U-20. Since 2009 Romo has played for Venezuela.
