Rasmus Bengtsson is a defender of Twente. He was born on 26 June 1986 in Malmö, Sweden.
Rasmus began his youth career in local Malmö FF, where he trained in the academy and played for the youth team of the club.
The footballer’s performance for the team ended in 2006, when he was invited to Allsvenskan side Trelleborgs FF.
In the summer 2006, Bengtsson penned his first professional contract and his senior career took off. Being capable of performing both in attack and defense, the footballer tried his luck both at the position of a defender and an attacking midfielder. However, those positions were very different, and Rasmus himself preferred to play on the defensive line. Bengtsson performed for the team during three years from 2006 till 2009 and amassed ten goals in 73 matches.
In the summer 2009, the footballer completed a move to German side Hertha on a three-year deal, but the new club failed to provide Rasmus with a place in the main team, and the defender made only six appearances during one season.
Bengtsson was absolutely disappointed with the state of affairs and accepted an offer from top-flight Dutch club Twente. The player sealed a deal with the new team in the summer 2010 and featured in 23 matches as of October 2012.
From 2008 till 2009, the defender took part in 13 games for the Sweden national U-21 squad. In 2009 the footballer received his first call-up to the full national team.
