Raul Meireles is a midfielder at Fenerbahçe (Turkey). He was born on March 17, 1983 in Porto, Portugal.
Raul Meireles started his professional football career at Aves CD, although the midfielder trained at the football academy of Boavista FC. He returned to the team for only a year (in 2003), played 29 matches but failed to score any goals. In 2004 he signed a 5-year contract with Porto FC and marked 138 games with 15 goals.
In 2010 Raul Meireles signed for Liverpool FC without any hesitation. His first goal for the team was shot in January 2011. The midfielder made another 3 goals in the following 4 matches and was rewarded with the title of the best player of the month. His fifth goal for “The Reds” in a match against Wigan Athletic FC made the footballer extremely popular with the fans.
On August 31, 2011 Raul Meireles joined Chelsea FC. His greatest achievement with the club is the victory in the UEFA Champions League final.
On September 3, 2012 Raul Meireles moved to a Turkish club Fenerbahçe.
Internationally, the midfielder is the Champion of the UEFA European U16 Football Championship (Israel, 2000). He also played for Portugal in the UEFA Euro 2008 (Austria and Switzerland).
