Raúl Rodríguez Navarro is a Spanish central defender playing for RCD Espanyol.
His professional debut happened with a Segunda B side UDA Granemet where he spent three complete seasons. In the summer of 2010 he signed for a neighbouring club RCD Espanyol where Navarro was primarily positioned in the reserve team.
When the club sold Victor Rúiz during the winter transfer period and the Argentine Juan Forlín received a harsh injury the then coach of the Catalan side Mauricio Pochettino rendered to Rodríguez his earned promotion to the main squad. Raúl’s first match took place in November 2010 in La Liga where Espanyol faced Atlético Madrid at the away ground. During that game Raúl substituted Pablo Osvaldo to play only the closing minute. He finished his first top-level season for Espanyol with 10 appearances for the main squad beginning 8 matches in the starting line-up. All in all Raúl Rodríguez made 38 league appearances for the ‘Peritos’ since 2010.
