A Brazilian footballer Renan dos Santos plays as a goalkeeper for Botafogo. Renan was born on 18 May 1989 in Rio de Janeiro.
Renan’s junior career started at the local CFZ do Rio, where he played for the youth squad. In 2007, after the goalkeeper had been tested sufficiently, he was drafted into the academy of Botafogo.
In a year, Renan was promoted to the senior level. His professional debut took place in May 2008 in a match against Sport at Engenhão. The 2009/2010 season turned to be very fortunate for the footballer, as the first squad goalkeeper got an injury and Renan started replacing him. He also became thrice the holder of the Taça Rio (in 2008, 2010 and 2012). In 2010, the goalkeeper together with the team was honored with the Taça Guanabara and also became the champion of the Campeonato Carioca.
Renan has experience in performing at the international level. He represented the Brazil national youth squad at U-18 and U-19 levels from 2007 to 2008.
