Rens van Eijden is a defender of NEC. He was born on 3 March 1988 in Oss, Netherlands.
Rens’s career took off in RKSV, where the footballer performed for the youth team of the club. Van Eijden managed to draw the attention of PSV Eindhoven scouts during one of trials and was asked to join the academy of the top-flight team, which he did in 1999. The player trained with ‘Rood-witten’ and performed for their junior squad during seven years.
In 2007, Rens penned a professional two-year contract with PSV, but did not manage to make any main team appearances during the 2007/2008 season. In the summer 2008, the footballer was sent on a season-long loan to Willem II, where he featured in 25 matches and netted two goals during his spell.
In 2009, PSV and NEC agreed van Eijden’s transfer, and the defender sealed a four-year deal with the new club. Rens took part in 64 fixtures and fired one goal for NEC as of November 2012.
The footballer was capped 12 times for the Netherlands national U-20 and U-21 teams and one time for the Netherlands B.
