Renze Fij is a goalkeeper of Heracles Almelo. He was born on 26 September 1992 in Enschede, Netherlands.
Renze’s career took off in local amateur Victoria ‘28, where the young footballer was noticed by Twente scouts. Fij joined the academy of the club in the summer 2009, but decided to pen a senior contract with Go Ahead Eagles in November the same year. The 17-year-old player made his professional début on 30 November 2009 in the home 3-2 victory over Helmond Sport, where he came on as a substitute for an injured first-choice keeper. However, the regular goalie managed to make a complete recovery by the following match, and Renze’s first game for the temporary team became his last one as well.
In the summer 2010, the footballer sealed a two-year deal with Groningen, but did not manage to come on the pitch during two seasons. At the beginning of the summer 2012, Heracles Almelo secured Fij’s services on a two-year contract.
