A Portuguese defender Ricardo Costa started to play professionally at Porto; his first game for the Portuguese side was against Boavista – the team that brought up the talented player. Nevertheless Ricardo came to success at Porto as he won the UEFA Cup, the Champions League and the Clubs’ World Cup in the blue-white kit.
Ricardo was purchased from Porto by Wolfsburg in 2007 as the clubs agreed on a €4 million deal. He made his first appearance for the new team in a friendly match against Würzburger. Ricardo spent the first half in a match that was won by ‘the Wolves’ 4-0.
The first official game of the Portuguese in the Bundesliga was held against Bayer Leverkusen on November 11, 2007. The debut was unsuccessfully lost 1-2.
Then Costa was transferred to the French Lille on January 29, 2010 but having spent half a year in France Ricardo had to move to Spain and sign a contract with Valencia. In the summer 2014 he left the club and moved to a Qatari side Al-Sailiya.
