Kaká. Biography
Ricardo Kaká was born in 1982 in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Already when 18, he made his debut in the main squad of Sao Paulo. In two seasons he managed to score 22 goals and play almost 50 matches. It was due to the bright debut that scouts from AC Milan spotted him.
In 2003, Kaká became a Milan player for modest 8.5 million euros. In his first season Kaká scored 10 goals, played 30 matches and won gold medals of Serie A and Coppa Italia. His main position is midfielder; he is a connecting link between defence and attack. His task is to get a pass from defenders and pass it to forwards. He performs this task just perfect. In 2005, he was among Top 10 nominees for Ballon d’Or and finished 9th which is not a bad result for a novice player. In 2007, thanks to successful displays in Serie A and UEFA Champions League Kaká was awarded not only ‘the UEFA Club Footballer of the Year’ but ‘the FIFA World Player of the Year’ and got Ballon d’Or and Diamond Ball trophies.
In January 2009, Manchester City offered almost 100 million euros for Kaká’s move, but the player himself refused to change club and the transfer never happened. Already in the summer of that year Kaká changed his decision and became a player of Real Madrid and for that transfer the Italian club got almost 68 million euros. In the first season with the Royal Club Kaká showed his importance having scored a couple of important goals. Due to a serious injury he spent much time recovering.
However, his appearances in the squad were limited and after four years in Madrid the Brazilian returned to AC Milan in 2013.
In the summer 2014 the 32-year old Kaka signed a contract with an American side Orlando City, who were to join the top flight MLS in 2015. Before that, Kaka was loaned to his former club Sao Paulo.
In the squad of his national team Kaká took part not only in the Olympics in Beijing but at FIFA World Cups in Germany and South Africa. He played one of the key roles in midfield and was one of the main players of the Brazil national team.
His famous nickname ‘Kaká’ is a simple shortening of the name Ricardo. His younger brother who is a professional footballer having a deal with AC Milan was unable to pronounce the full name when a child, so he called his brother ‘Kaká’.
After a grave injury which could have disabled Kaká forever he became very religious and always gave a tenth part of his income for church needs. He thinks it was God himself who helped him recover and become such a famous footballer.
