A Portuguese footballer Ricardo da Costa Pateiro was born on 31 May 1980 in Pamela.
His professional career started in 1999 at Lusitano Évora. The club isn’t one from the top division, so Ricardo understood he had no bright future playing for the team. So he was waiting for a chance to change the squad. In the summer 2001, Pateiro got an opportunity to make a full-scale start, after signing for Torreense. He became the team’s starter and performed as a sub only on rare occasion. In total, the footballer made 77 appearances and scored 13 goals for the squad. In 2004, Ricardo penned a year contract with Pinhalnovense. The footballer gained the head coach’s confidence and clinched into the first team, making 36 appearances and netting 5 goals. The 2005/2006 season would find Pateiro performing for Nacional. The footballer stayed with the squad for the two following seasons without becoming the head coach’s first choice. In total, Ricardo featured in 38 team’s fixtures and was lucky to find the net once. In the summer 2008, he moved to União Leiria. His rich playing experience helped him to become the starting player almost at once. Over the course of the spell, he made 75 appearances and netted two goals.
In 2011, Ricardo was scouted by Rio Ave. After signing a contract, the footballer started making occasional appearances for the new team. In 2013 Pateiro switched for Uniao Leiria.
