Richard Chaplow is a midfielder of Millwall. He was born on 2 February 1985 in Accrington, England.
In 1993 Richard became a trainee of the Burnley academy and joined the U-11 squad, where he spent quite a lot of time before being asked to perform for the older team. During ten years Chaplow managed to rise from a young trainee to the confident midfielder, who could play at the professional level.
In 2003 Richard penned a senior contract with Burnley and helped his new club to stay at the top of the league table during two seasons by making 65 appearances and netting seven goals. In 2005 the footballer continued his career in West Bromwich Albion, where he performed during one year before being sent on loan to Southampton. After the end of his spell, Chaplow returned to his parent ‘Baggies’ and began to make occasional appearances for the club, took part in 11 games and found the net one time.
In 2008 Richard transferred to Preston North End and stayed with the new club during two years. He featured in 68 fixtures and amassed eight goals till 2010, when the footballer completed a loan move to Southampton. When his spell ended in 2011, the temporary club decided to secure the player’s services on permanent basis. The contract was penned in the summer 2011, and Chaplow immediately started to perform for the new club as a starting team player. The midfielder took part in 47 games and fired four goals, thus contributing to the promotion of ‘The Saints’ to the Barclays Premier League.
In 2013 Chaplow joined Millwall first on loan and later on permanent basis.
From 2004 till 2005, Richard was capped four times for the England national U-19, U-20 and U-21 squads.
