Robbie Keane is an Irish striker who currently plays for Los Angeles Galaxy in MLS. He was born on 8 July 1980 in Dublin, Ireland.
Robbie embarked on his professional career with an English club Wolverhampton Wanderers in 1997 where he initially played as a youth. Keane got off to a flying start scoring a brace in his debut match aged 17. During a two-year stint at Wolverhampton he appeared in 73 matches netting 24 goals.
In between 1999 and 2002, Keane featured for Coventry City, Internazionale and Leeds United. He enjoyed a meteoric rise striking roots at Tottenham Hotspur in 2002. The Irish player shortly established himself as the pillar of the team pulling off as the top scorer two seasons in a row (the 2002-2004 seasons). However, he met with bigger triumph in the 2007/08 campaign as he set a new record of scoring 23 goals in a season and led the Spurs to the Football League Cup win. All in all, Kean netted 82 goals in 197 matches with the club.
In the 2008/09 season, a skillful striker moved to Liverpool but returned to Tottenham in six months. In 2010 and 2011, he had short spells at Celtic and West Ham United before getting a toehold at Los Angeles Galaxy in the summer 2011. Keane made his mark in the 2011 MLS Cup Final assisting the winning goal for Landon Donovan against Houston Dynamo.
Robbie Keane is a veteran and captain of the Ireland national team where he is regularly capped since 1998. From 25 March 1998 to 7 September 2012, he notched 54 goals for the team establishing himself as the top Irish goalscorer of all time.
