Robert Zwinkels is a goalkeeper of ADO Den Haag. He was born on 4 May 1983 in Wateringen, Netherlands.
Robert’s career took off in local VELO, from where he moved to the academy of Ajax in 2000. The footballer spent five years in the youth system of the club before completing a move to ADO Den Haag in the summer 2005. In December the same year, Zwinkels managed to impress the coaching staff and got an opportunity to be promoted from a third-choice goalkeeper to a first-choice one after Stefan Postma was injured and Josh Wagenaar failed to come on the field. That is how Robert took a place between the posts and succeeded Wagenaar at the position of a second-choice keeper in the 2006/2007 season. The footballer made 15 starts during one year, but had to leave the position because of a shoulder trauma.
After Zwinkels fully recuperated, he continued his prolific performance for the club during two following seasons, but suffered a ligamentous rupture after the game in Surinam in the summer 2009, which kept him out of action for a long time.
The footballer recovered in January 2010 and took his place in the goal again, but he was injured once again in his first match and was succeeded by Gino Coutinho at the position of a first-choice keeper.
Robert made 71 appearances for ADO Den Haag as of October 2012.
