Roberto Soldado went to play for Real Madrid when he was 14 years old after leaving Don Bosco (Valencia). Having scrambled through the youth teams he eventually got his place in the main squad of the club both starting and scoring for ‘los Blancos‘ in the Primera and in the Champions League.
The season 2006/07 was successfully spent at Osasuna. He smashed his opponents with 14 spectacular goals. Soldado became one of the revelations of that season.
However the following season was less positive. Roberto failed to compete with Ruud van Nistelrooy for a place in the starting 11. Eventually his firm position on the bench made him move to Getafe in 2008.
In 2009 there were passionate rumours about Roberto’s transfer back home to Valencia as a replacement for David Villa. In June 2010 those talks came out to be true as the clubs agreed upon the terms of the transfer and the player himself signed a 4-year contract. Roberto became a prolific striker for the Bats having scored 59 goals during three seasons with the club.
In the summer 2013 Tottenham Hotspur came up with a £26 million bid for the forward and Valencia let him go.
Roberto Soldado has been capped for the Spain national team since 2007 and scored 6 times.
