Robin van Persie began his career in Excelsior and Feyenoord youth teams. At the same time the young footballer was called up first to the Netherlands national U-19 team and then to the U-21 squad. In 2002 he signed a three-year contract with Feyenoord. A month later Robin was let on the pitch in the Champions League quarter-final match against Rangers F.C. and helped his team to secure a 3-2 win in the return leg and opened the further way for the club.
