Rodrigo Palacio is a striker for Internazionale Milano. He was born on 5 February 1982 in Bahía Blanca, Argentina.
Rodrigo’s youth career started at local Bella Vista football academy. In 1990 he passed the tests and was accepted in the club’s youth squad. For 12 years Rodrigo played for Bella Vista youth teams until the coaching staff was ready to release Palacio to the world of professional football.
In 2002 Rodrigo signed for Argentinian Huracán and was immediately included in the starting lineup. The young striker had great talent and potential that accompanied him throughout his career. From 2002 to 2003 Palacio made 53 appearances and scored 15 goals for Huracán.
Rodrigo’s performance attracted the attention of the Argentine Primera División Banfield and in 2003 Palacio signed a long-term contract with the club. During two seasons the young Argentine striker periodically started matches and scored 9 goals in 36 matches.
In 2005 Rodrigo signed a 4-year contract with Boca Juniors and quickly rose to become the club’s key striker. Four seasons at Boca Juniors happened to be the most successful stage in Palacio’s career as he netted 82 goals in 185 appearances. Thus the Argentine striker became a candidate for transfer to the top European clubs.
In the summer of 2009 Italian Genoa held talks with Boca Juniors on Palacio’s transfer to Italian Serie A for €2.8 million. At Genoa Rodrigo was a key striker and a great asset to the team with an impressive 41 goals in 103 matches.
In 2012 Rodrigo Palacio was signed by Internazionale Milano for the 2012/13 season.
Since 2005 Palacio has been capped 5 times for the Argentina national football team.
