Sergio Rodríguez García, commonly known as Rodri, is a defender playing for a Spanish club Rayo Vallecano. He was born on August 17, 1984 in a Spanish town of Mataró.
Rodri stepped on a professional path in an academy of Barcelona where he played for the youth team for quite a long time. In 2003 Garcia received an offer from the Catalan club to sign a professional contract. Rodríguez couldn’t resist and put his signature under an agreement under which he played till 2006 but mostly for the reserve side. He played 95 games and scored two goals during a three-year stint with the reserves. Nevertheless, he managed to make 5 first-team appearances for the club.
In 2006 the player was purchased by Deportivo de la Coruña. There he managed to play only two games during his time for the side. Sergio Rodríguez García was sent on loan to Almería, Polideportivo, Marítimo and Salamanca from 2007 till 2009. Throughout the two seasons he played 56 games and scored twice.
In 2009, García signed a professional contract with a Spanish club Hércules where he spent two years of his career. Though the player appeared quite frequently either in the start or as a substitution his performance couldn’t be called stable. During the period from 2009 to 2011 García played 51 games with 4 goals for Hércules.
In 2011 García received an offer from Spartak Moscow and soon decided to move away from native and warm Spanish climate to strange and unknown Russia. Regardless the new environment García got used to living in a new country and quite quickly won the competition for a position in the starting line-up.
In the summer of 2012 the player moved to Rayo Vallecano after 23 league games and one goal in the Russian Premier League.
