Rolando Schiavi was born in 1973 in Lincoln, Argentina.
He began his senior playing career at Argentino de Rosario and in 1996 Schiavi joined Argentinos Juniors. He played for the club until 2001 when he moved to Boca Juniors. During Schiavi’s spell there the team won three Aperturas (2003, 2005 and 2011), Copa Libertadores in 2003, Intercontinental Cup in 2003, Copa Sudamericana in 2004, and Recopa Sudamericana in 2005.
In 2006, Ronaldo Schiavi moved to Spain where he had a short spell at Hércules CF and in 2007 he moved to Brazilian side Grêmio where he had a short stint as well.
In the summer transfer window Schiavi signed a contract with Argentinean side Newell's Old Boys. There he stayed until 2011 and had a short loan spell at Estudiantes de La Plata in 2009 helping them to win the 2009 Copa Libertadores. In 2011, the footballer signed for his former club, where he used to play earlier, Boca Juniors. In 2013 Schiavi had a brief spell with Shanghai Shenhua and then signed for an amateur Argentine side Rivadavia de Lincoln.
In 2009, Rolando Schiavi was a part of the Argentina national team qualifying for the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
