Romain Hamouma plays as a midfielder for AS Saint-Étienne. He was born on 29 March 1987 in Lure, France.
Romain began his youth career in 1992 playing for JS Luronnes. He starred for the club until 1998 when he was offered to study at ASM Belfort academy. Later on the player moved to Sochaux academy where he stayed until 2005.
Hamouma’s senior career started in 2005 when he agreed to a contract with Besançon RC. Despite the young age and lack of experience he was entrusted the place in the major squad in no time. During four years spent with the team he made 131 total appearances and scored 17 goals.
In 2009 a French midfielder accepted the offer from Ligue 2 team Laval. From the very beginning he was given the place in the major squad and throughout the season he appeared in the starting lineup. During the 2010/11 season he featured in 35 matches and netted 10 goals.
Romain’s outstanding play at Laval enabled him to transfer to SM Caen from Ligue 1. For less than two years from 2010 till 2012 he participated in 25 matches and scored 15 goals.
In the summer of 2012 the player joined AS Saint-Étienne playing in Ligue 1 and immediately entered the major squad.
