Romain Pitau – is a midfielder playing for Montpellier HSC. He was born on 8 August 1977 in a French town Douai.
Pitau’s youth career began in RC Lens academy where he came in adolescence. The footballer studied in the academy and featured in the club’s youth team at the same time. Romain’s youth career came to an end in 1997 when he moved to professional football.
In 1997 Pitau’s native club RC Lens made him an offer to join the first team. The footballer signed his first professional contract with the club and played in the team until 1998. During the season Pitau played only 2 matches for the club.
In 1998 Pitau was given a proposal to transfer to US Créteil-Lusitanos. Romain signed a contract for three years until 2001. As opposed his previous experience Pitau played in the major team squad in all league matches beginning with the first qualifying round. In the following three years he appeared in 102 matches scoring 5 goals.
In 2001 Romain continued his career in OGC Nice. The player signed a three-year deal with the club until 2004. In OGC Nice Pitau was also a key player taking part in practically all matches which occurred during those three years. From 2001 until 2004 Romain appeared in 103 matches and scored 5 goals.
In 2004 Pitau was called up to FC Sochaux-Montbéliard and signed a contract for five years. The head coach made the footballer one of the major players of the team as he included Romain in the first team almost at every match. During 5 years spent in the club Romain appeared in 172 matches and scored 5 goals.
In 2009 Pitau received another offer of transfer. That time it was Montpellier. After all the nuances of the deal were settled the player signed the contract and joined Montpellier.
