Romain Salin was born on 29 July 1984 in Mayenne, France.
The player started his football career at the academy of the French club Le Mans, where he was trained from 2001 to 2002. After that Salin continued his football formation at the academy of Rennes. In 2003 Romain Salin penned his first professional contract with one of the oldest French clubs Laval. However during the first season of his professional career Salin stayed on the bench and didn’t take part in a single match.
In 2004 Romain was purchased by Lorient which signed a four-year contract with the footballer. But the two next seasons were not a success for him. Salin made only 11 appearances for this club. In 2006 the footballer was sent on loan to Libourne. In the 2006/2007 season he featured in 21 matches. In 2009 Salin joined Tours. The next season was the most successful for the goalkeeper. He took part virtually in all the matches for his new team. In 2010 Romain moved to the Portuguese side Naval where he made 27 appearances.
In 2011 Romain Salin sealed a deal with Marítimo where he continued to play until the summer 2013. At that time he switched for Rio Ave.
