Roman Weidenfeller is a Borussia Dortmund goalkeeper. He was born on 6 August 1980 in Diez, Germany.
Roman’s youth career began with Sportfreunde Eisbachtal youth system. In 1996 he was admitted to the FC Kaiserslautern youth team.
In 2000 the footballer was promoted to the major team, but in two years, having made only 6 appearances for Kaiserslautern, Roman joined Borussia Dortmund. Since 2003 he has been a first-choice keeper of the club.
Weidenfeller was first called up to the national youth squad in 1997. From 1999 to 2001 Roman took part in three matches of the Germany U-21 football team.
Weidenfeller wears the number 1 jersey for Borussia Dortmund. The most important personal award is the best goalkeeper at the FIFA U-17 World Cup 1997.
