Rúben Amorim is a midfielder of Benfica. He was born on 27 January 1985 in Lisbon, Portugal.
In 1998 Amorim joined CAC Pontinha where he spent first two years of his youth career. In 2000 the young footballer prompted interest from the academy of the Lisbon club Benfica which he joined in the same year. During two years the future professional footballer played for different youth teams of the club taking part in junior championships of his country. In 2002 Amorim moved to Belenenses where he finished his football formation and finally prepared to start his professional career.
In 2003 the midfielder signed his first professional contract with Belenenses. During his five-year spell Amorim was an important figure in this team. From 2003 to 2008 Rúben made 96 appearances and kicked 4 goals for his first professional club.
In 2008 the footballer moved to the top-flight club Benfica. For three years and a half Amorim scored 5 goals in 68 matches. In January 2012 Amorim was loaned to Braga to gain game practice necessary for his further development.
From 2004 to 2008 Rúben Amorim gained 24 caps for the Portugal U-20 and U-21 national teams. Since 2010 he is capped to the senior side.
