Ruben Schaken is a midfielder of Feyenoord. He was born on 3 April 1982 in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
Schaken’s career took off in Cambuur in the 2002/2003 season. Three years later, Ruben decided to change his club and moved to Veendam in 2005.
In the 2007/2008 season, the footballer was voted the best player of the Eerste Divisie. The following season, the midfielder penned a contract with VVV-Venlo. On 2 August 2009, Ruben made his début for the club at the position of a right winger in the match against PSV. Besides, that was the match, where the player’s first goal came.
Schaken made 30 appearances and fired three goals for VVV-Venlo during two years.
In May 2010, the winger sealed a deal with Feyenoord, where he has been wearing number 27 shirt from 1 July the same year. The footballer started to perform for the main team of the club, but a bit disappointing result took him to the substitutes’ bench. During the 2011/2012 season, Ruben managed to impress head coach Ronald Koeman, who returned him to the starting squad. The winger showed truly stellar performance that year, featured in 32 games and found the net six times, which helped his team to run out unbeaten in 25 fixtures.
According to the terms of his contract, Schaken is to perform for Feyenoord till 30 June 2014.
