Rudolf Bester was born on July 19, 1983 in Otjiwarongo, Namibia. At the moment he plays as a striker for Orlando Pirates (he can also take up the position of either deep-lying forward or left forward when required). He is one of the few Namibians to play for the European side.
Bester began his professional football career at the Namibian side Eleven Arrows, where he spent five years before moving to Serbian club FK Čukarički Stankom. However he failed to make a significant impact as a scorer having netted just two goals in 23 appearances for his side.
In 2009 Bester returned to South Africa joining Maritzburg United. He made 52 first-team starts and scored 13 goals during two-year spell.
In 2011 Bester put pen to paper on a contract with Orlando Pirates.
Bester was quite successful on an international level, scoring ten goals for his side. This is the third best Namibia goal-scoring record, with only retired Gervatius Uri Khob (12) and Ruben Van Wyk (11) netting more goals for the Brave Warriors.
