Rudy Gestede is a striker, born on 10 October 1988 in Essey-lès-Nancy, France.
In 2004, Rudy came to the academy of Metz and successfully passed a trial after impressing performance in a demonstration game. The footballer cruised through all tests and joined the junior squad of the club, where he started to get ready for a professional level.
In 2007, Gestede moved to the reserve squad of Metz and netted three goals in 27 fixtures for the team during five years. However, the striker often helped the main squad, when the head coach asked him to. In 2009, Rudy officially became a first team player, but went on loan to Cannes at once and fired four goals in 22 matches for the club during his spell. After returning to his parent Metz, the footballer took his tally to five goals in 32 games by 2011, when he sealed a deal with Welsh side Cardiff City.
Gestede put pen to paper of a long-term contract and found the net seven times in 55 fixtures for ‘The Bluebirds’.
In the summer 2013 Gestede was loaned to Blackburn Rovers and in January 2014 signed a permanent deal with the club.
From 2006 till 2008, the striker was capped 17 times for the France national U-19 squad. Since 2013 he has played for Benin national team.
