A Portuguese footballer Rui Miguel Teixeira Caetano was born on 20 April in Paredes.
Rui started trying his hand at football in 1998, when he was drafted into the academy of Paredes. He studied there for 5 years, playing for various youth teams. In 2003, he was noticed by the scouts from Porto. After all the preliminary tests were passed, the young player joined the youth department of the club. Caetano spent the last seven years of his junior department at the club’s academy. By 2010, he turned into the full-grown player, who was ready to perform at the higher level.
In the summer 2010, Rui got an offer from Paços de Ferreira to sign a long-term contract. The forward took the proposal and his professional career started. After three years with the club Caetano moved to another Portuguese side Gil Vicente.
Rui was capped 14 times for the Portugal U-20 team in the 2010/2011 season. In 2011, he was invited to perform for the U-21 team.
