Rui Sampaio is a midfielder for Cagliari. He was born on 29 May, 1987 in Vila Pouca de Aguiar, Portugal.
Rui began his professional career in 2006 by signing his first contract with G.D. Chaves. During the 2006/07 season the Portuguese footballer periodically appeared in the first team, making 20 starts and scoring 2 goals for the club.
In 2007 Sampaio signed for Penafiel, where he played in 14 matches and scored 2 goals in the 2007/08 season.
In 2008 Rui moved to Beira-Mar, starting the most successful period of his career. Sampaio played for Beira-Mar, one of the top Portuguese clubs, for 3 seasons. During that period he helped the club to finish fourth in Portugal national championship which is the best team’s result in its history. From 2008 to 2011 Rui Sampaio made 87 appearances and scored 10 goals for Beira-Mar.
In 2011 Rui sealed a deal with Serie A club Cagliari. In 2012 Rui Sampaio was sent out on loan to S.C. Olhanense and later on in 2013 to Beira-Mar.
