Ruslan Fomin is a striker for Illichivets. He was born on 3 March 1986 in Rosiys’ka Lozova, Ukraine.
Ruslan’s professional career started at Arsenal Kharkiv. There he got his first match practice in football, and advanced to a completely new level of play in a relatively short period of time. For three years at Arsenal Kharkiv Fomin made 25 appearances and scored 4 goals. In 2005 Shakhtar Donetsk expressed the desire to purchase Ruslan. Arsenal was interested in the proposal, and the clubs began to discuss the conditions of the transition almost immediately. They reached agreement in the summer of that same year, after which Fomin officially joined Shakhtar, one of the strongest clubs in Ukraine.
In 2006 Fomin was sent out on loan to Metalist Kharkiv to earn experience. For two years of Ruslan’s stay at the club, he remained a key striker. Fomin played 56 matches and scored 12 goals for Metalist by 2008. After returning to Shakhtar, Ruslan was from time to time included in the starting lineup, but not as much as he wanted.
In 2010 Ruslan was again sent out on loan, this time to Zorya Luhansk, where he spent one season. During this period the striker featured in 14 games and managed 3 goals. In 2011 Ruslan Fomin was loaned to Illichivets, for which he currently plays on loan.
During his international career Ruslan Fomin played for the youth teams of Ukraine U18, U19 and U21, totaling more than 30 caps and over 10 goals.
