Ryan Dickson is a back, born on 14 December 1986 in Saltash, England.
In 2005 Ryan started to try his hand at professional football, because he was ready for that level of performance after long years in the academy. The young Englishman penned a contract with Plymouth Argyle, according to which he stayed with ‘The Pilgrims’ during three years. Dickson made only five appearances for his first club, because he was not a part of the head coach’s plan. The manager had a wide range of more experienced and skillful players and Ryan had to get used to it, but he still could gain playing practice.
In 2007 the footballer was sent on loan to Torquay United, where he made nine appearances and found the net one time, which entailed the temporary contract extension for another three months, as the back impressed the management with his performance and confidence on the left flank of the defense. In the summer 2007, Ryan went on loan to Brentford, where he featured in ten games as a starting team player and as a sub. When the spell was coming to an end, the management of the temporary club offered Dickson a contract on permanent basis and the footballer accepted the offer during the summer transfer window. Ryan became the leader of the left flank of defense and netted three goals in 87 fixtures during two years.
In 2010 English side Southampton wished to secure Ryan’s services and offered him a contract on good terms. Dickson accepted the offer and penned a contract with the club, but a place in the starting XI was not to be given at once and the footballer had to struggle for it. The back made 23 appearances and went on to net one time during his first year and a half with ‘The Saints’. In January 2012, the footballer completed a loan move to Yeovil Town, where he featured in five games and fired one goal. After his three-month spell, Ryan joined Leyton Orient on loan as well and took part in nine fixtures of the temporary team during the rest of the season. After another short spell with Bradford City Dickinson signed a permanent deal with Colchester United in the summer 2013.
One year later he switched to Crawley Town.
