Ryan Shotton is a back of Stoke City. He was born on 30 September 1988 in Fenton, England.
In 2007 Shotton graduated from the academy of Stoke City after being its trainee for two years. The club offered him a senior contract, which was penned by the footballer in the same year. After moving to the main team of ‘The Potters’, Ryan trained with it for some time before being sent on loan to Altrincham for his début 2007/2008 season. The head coach of the temporary club let Shotton on the pitch almost in every match, which did a lot of good to the back. The footballer made encouraging display by netting five goals in 34 games for the team.
After Ryan returned to his parent Stoke City in the summer 2008, the club was offered to loan him once again. Both the management and the player himself wanted that, as the head coach could not find a place for the back in the main team of ‘The Potters’ and Shotton had to gain more experience. Ryan finalized a loan move to Tranmere Rovers, made 33 appearances and found the net five times. That was another bright season for the footballer, because he managed to consolidate his positions both in the temporary club and in his parent Stoke City. In the 2009/2010 season, Shotton went on loan again, this time to Barnsley, where he featured in 31 matches as a starting team player.
After returning from loan, Ryan began to make occasional appearances for ‘The Potters’, but in 2013 was loaned again, this time to Wigan Athletic.
