Samuel Edward Hutchinson was born on 3 August 1989 and is commonly known as Sam Hutchinson.
At the age of seven he entered the Chelsea youth academy. He can play both centre back and right back position. On 13 May 2007 Sam made his debut as a regular against Everton. After that he spent two years with very few appearances due to injuries. In August 2009 Hutchinson signed a new four year contract.
In the summer of 2009 Sam joined the team on a transatlantic trip to the USA for a pre-season tournament and came off the bench during one of the games. Chelsea won 4 games out of 4 at that tournament. In July 2009 he played as a regular against America FC. In August Hutchinson made sub appearance in the match against Fulham. In September he made his first official start. Sam also came off the bench in the derby against QPR in the FA Cup. In August 2010 Sam had to retire from football due to serious injury.
He stayed with the club and worked in the academy preparing to become a coach but one year later in December 2011 decided to resume his player career and signed a new one year deal with Chelsea. In the season 2012/2013 Sam played for Nottingham Forest. In 2014 he had a brief loan spell with Sheffield Wednesday and later penned a permanent deal with the club.
Sam played for the England national U18 and U19 football teams.
