Samat Smakov is a Kazakh professional defender. He was born on 28 February 1978 in Semey, Kazakh SSR.
Throughout his career Samat played for an array of clubs such as Elimay, Irtysh, Rostov, Astana, Kairat Almaty and Aktobe. He achieved his major success playing for Aktobe since 2007 till 2013 and amassing 30 goals in 171 league matches for that period. All in all, Smakov claimed six Kazakhstan League titles, two Kazakhstan Cups and two Supercups with different clubs. In 2013, he signed for the Turkish side Çaykur Rizespor. Half a year later Smakov joined a Kazakh side Kairat.
Samat Smakov has been capped for the Kazakhstan national team since 2000.
