Samir Carruthers is a midfielder of Aston Villa. He was born on 4 April 1993 in Islington, England.
Carruthers’s career took off in Cambridge United, where he had to cruise through several youth teams of the club before attracting the attention of Arsenal scouts. In 2005 the academy of ‘The Gunners’ invited the Englishman on a trial, and Samir did not hesitate to accept the invitation. The footballer played a demonstration game and proved to be a very promising winger.
The same year Carruthers received an offer to train in the youth system of Arsenal, which he accepted immediately. During four years from 2005 till 2009, Samir was a trainee of the London side academy, where he gleaned priceless experience from the coaching staff. The footballer continued his youth career in Aston Villa in 2009. It took the midfielder three years to reach the professional level.
In 2012 Carruthers penned a senior contract with ‘Villans’ and was lucky to get an opportunity to come on the field three times during the second half of the 2011/2012 season.
In 2013 he was loaned to Milton Keynes Dons.
From 2011, Samir was capped eight times and netted one goal for the Republic of Ireland national U-19 team.
