Sanzhar Tursunov is a midfielder for Gazovik Orenburg. He was born on 29 December 1986 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
Sanzhar began his football career at the youth team of local Pakhtakor. In 2006, he continued to play football at Irtysh-1946 Omsk. The midfielder made his first appearance for the club on 23 April in a match against Zarya Leninsk-Kuznetsky. Three days later, Sanzhar managed his first goal for the club in a game against FC Kuzbass-Dinamo.
In 2009 Tursunov signed for Volga Nizhny Novgorod, which at that time played in Russian First Division. The midfielder made 35 starts and netted 1 goal for the club in the 2009/10 season. In the following season, he played 36 games and scored 6 goals. Tursunov debuted in the Premier League for FC Volga on 14 March 2011, in a match against FC Tom Tomsk.
On 31 December 2011 the midfielder joined Alania Vladikavkaz. After a short spell with Lokomotiv Tashkent in 2013 Sanzhar joined Gazovik Orenburg.
Later on he moved to Vorskla Poltava.
Since 2010 Sanzhar Tursunov has been capped for Uzbekistan.
