Saul Deeney is a goalkeeper of Derby County. He was born on 23 March 1983 in Derry, Northern Ireland.
Saul’s professional career took off in Notts County in 2000. The footballer spent one year with the club and went on loan to Ilkeston Town, where he made four appearances during his spell. In 2002, Deeney completed a six-month loan move to Gresley Rovers and took part in six fixtures for the temporary team before returning to Notts County. The keeper featured in 42 games for his parent club during five years.
In 2005, Saul transferred to Burton Albion and became a first-choice goalkeeper. The footballer made 30 appearances during one season and returned to Notts County. Deeney featured in seven matches for his native team during six months and left for Hucknall Town in January 2007. The keeper took part in nine games for his new club till the summer 2007 and returned to Burton Albion, where he made 22 appearances during two seasons.
In the summer 2009, English side Derby County secured Saul’s services on permanent basis. The footballer usually comes on the pitch as a substitute.
