Sean St Ledger is a defender, born on 28 December 1984 in Birmingham, England.
In 2001, Sean joined the academy of Peterborough United and trained with the club during one year. The footballer reached the necessary level and got an opportunity to make a senior start for the main squad in 2002.
St Ledger penned a professional contract and began to make occasional performances for ‘The Posh’. In 2004, the defender was sent on a six-month loan to Stevenage Borough, but the head coach of the temporary team did not give Sean a chance to come on the pitch. After the footballer returned to his parent club, he was given more playing time. St Ledger took part in 79 fixtures and found the net one time for Peterborough United during four years (excluding his loan spell).
In 2006, Preston North End secured the defender’s services on a five-year deal. Sean took a regular place in the main squad at once and started to show impressing performance, which drew the attention of several Premier League teams. In 2009, the footballer was loaned out to Middlesbrough, because the club wanted to see him in action. After featuring in 15 matches and firing two goals, St Ledger returned to his parent Preston North End and continued his steady performance. The defender made 185 appearances and amassed ten goals for the club during five years.
In 2011, Sean put pen to paper of a permanent contract with Leicester City. In 2013 he had a brief spell with Millwall.
From 2009, the footballer has been capped for the Republic of Ireland national team.
