Sebastian Mielitz was born on 18 July 1989 in Zehdenick, Germany.
Sebastian began his career in such German clubs as Eintracht Oranienburg, MSV Neuruppin and Energie Cottbus, playing for them in youth. At Werder Bremen he quickly started climbing up the career ladder, being promoted to the senior level.
On 10 November 2007 the footballer debuted for the reserve team, as the main keeper of the club was injured at that time. In August 2008 Sebastian extended his contract with Werder until 2010. He appeared in the 3. Liga on 16 August 2008 in the match against SSV Jahn Regensburg. On 3 December 2009 Mielitz played his first game for the main team during the Europe League.
On 20 October 2010 the keeper debuted in the UEFA Championship League in a 1-1 draw versus Twente. In March 2010 Sebastian extended his contract with Werder Bremen until 30 June 2012, and later was rewarded with a new 1-year contract. Having established himself as a first-choice keeper, Mielitz was offered to sign another deal, keeping him at the club until 2014.
At international level he debuted on 12 October 2008, playing for the U-20 team against Austria. The following season Sebastian was part of the German squad at the FIFA U-20 World Cup, making a handful of appearances as a substitute. Since then he hasn’t been capped for the national team.
